In July, our founder, Ludwin Daal, attended and presented at the IAPWS – Power Cycle Chemistry Group event in Bristol, sharing recent developments from the Netherlands in his role as DAPWS Secretary.
As an associate member of IAPWS, DAPWS hosted its first-ever event in March this year. With more than 40 participants and strong interest in making it an annual gathering, the event was very well received by the wider IAPWS community.
The discussions highlighted the continued importance of water and steam cycle chemistry in a rapidly evolving energy landscape. Topics such as e-boilers, cycling and flexible operation, and the use of conditioning chemicals are becoming increasingly relevant as energy systems continue to change.
Ludwin also presented work carried out together with the Dutch working group of power plant chemists. This included practical guidelines on condenser leakages, as well as valuable insights and feedback on different chemical conditioning modes.
Currently, Dutch and Belgian partners are also participating in an industry-wide round robin focused on water quality parameters, including silica, sodium and phosphate.
📍Looking ahead, IAPWS will meet in Potsdam, Germany, next year, while the Dutch-Belgian APWS community will gather in Haarlem in March 2027.
